Door Closers

Many different mechanisms have been developed for automatic door closers, depending on the type of door involved. The most familiar type are the overhead models using a spring-operated arm or lever, but there are also concealed closers, electromagnetic mechanisms and special fittings for transom doors. Door closers are required for fire doors and for other health and safety reasons, and are also convenient for reducing noise and draughts.

For fire doors, concealed hydraulic closers are ideal, for example the Perko Powermatic R100, which offers adjustable close speeds and latching, and is fire tested to meet BS476 Part 22 requirements. Transom doors are often used in shops, and specialised closers such as the Axim TC8800 have useful features such as hold-open capability and adjustable closing. For a simple, cost effective closer, the Yale P-YSMDC is a BS EN1634-1 rated spring closer suitable for doors up to 50kg. There are closers for all kinds of doors available from the wide range stocked by easylocks.
