Walsall Locks is a British company with a long and fascinating history. It is based in the West Midlands, the traditional heart of England’s lock making industry, and began as a workers’ co-operative in 1873. It introduced many successful patents, including the innovative Dreadnought padlock, ACE padlock and the ZENI cylinder pin tumbler night latch, and built premises in Walsall and Willenhall. Originally called The Walsall Padlock Society, and later Walsall Locks & Cart Gear, in the 1980s it became a privately owned company and changed its name in 1997 to Walsall Locks Limited. Today, the company continues to manufacture ACE and ZENI padlocks, and also imports mortice and safe locks that are designed in the UK.
Walsall Locks is an independent and privately owned company that prides itself on its quality assurance and high standards of workmanship. The company has two BSI Kitemark licences for its Thief Resistant Mortice Locks and all products are fully compliant with British Standards. The main supplier of Walsall Locks in the UK is Easylocks, who stock a wide range of mortice deadlocks, mortice sash locks, heavy duty padlocks, roller shutter locks and many other beautifully engineered, high-quality locks from this well-respected and historic company.
