Garage Emergency Releases
In the event of a power failure, or if a door opener happens to fail, it may be virtually impossible to get access to a garage, or even into a home. Pre-installed garage emergency releases will solve this problem. The barrel of the lock is installed into a hole in the garage door, then a cable is attached to the release lever on the door's opener. When the key is turned, the lock is pulled through the door along with the cable. A tug on the cable releases the door from its trolley, and the door can then be lifted manually. This device is quick and easy to install, and can be done by virtually anyone.
Several types of garage emergency releases are available at easylock. Hormann makes a lock for hinged garage doors as well as for double doors. A slightly more affordable choice is ezlock, which uses a tubular key instead of the traditional door key.
