Designed to add extra retaining bolts to a door, window, or cupboard, press bolts are simply operated by pressing on a button, though they require a key to release the bolt. They are normally supplied as a set including the bolt and housing, locking plates, and matching keys. In order to match existing décor, a choice of colours is available, in most cases white, brown, silver, or brass. Although generally universal in application, some models are not suitable for uPVC frames.
For heavy duty use, the Chubb 8K116 (now marketed by Yale) features an 8mm diameter bolt, a choice of locking plates and cut cylinder keys, whilst Yale's own branded P124 Patio Door lock is suitable for wood or aluminium framed sliding doors. Era produce a range of universal press bolts featuring a rolling bolt, which resists attack by sawing, and which are also suitable for patio doors. Extra keys are available when ordering press bolts from easylocks.
